The new modular range is succinctly named R and can be fitted to excavators, wheel loaders and telehandlers, for example, by changing the rear end. The main feature of the new model range is the greater versatility of its applications and accessories.

How the same product fits different types of machines is very simple. The R-series tree shear consists of two parts; the front end of the product is the actual cutting part of the JAK energy shear, followed by the rear part, which is adapted to the desired machine type. In this way, one and the same grapple can be used for energy wood harvesting in excavators, wheel loaders or telehandlers, for example.

With the new R range, the JAK tree shear liberates the thinking from a tool for specific machine types to a tool for versatility. In practice, this means a better and more cost-effective solution, especially for those machine operators and companies that use a wide variety of machines in their work.

The same tree shear for many different machines

The new R-series tree shear is currently available in three sizes: JAK-200R, JAK-250R and JAK-300R. The numbers associated with the models refer to the cut-off diameter of the grab in millimetres, but also give an indication of the size category of the machine type used. For example, for excavators, the division goes as follows: 200R is for use on smaller excavators of 1.8-5 tonnes, 250R on medium excavators of 5-12 tonnes and 300R on larger excavators of over 12 tonnes.

The product classification is partly familiar from JAK-Metalli Ltd’s previous excavator grab models. The most popular tree shears are traditionally those suitable for excavators, but demand for various wheel loaders and telehandlers has also increased. Customers have easy access to the new R range, as JAK assembles R-series products ready for use with the desired machine type and rear end.

The replacement of the rear part is designed so that you can do it yourself with a minimum of effort. In this way, the R range gives you freedom of use of the tree shear, rather than being restricted to a specific type of machine or application. The aim is that the new tree shear will allow the user to evolve as the job progresses and new machines are acquired.

More versatile accessories are also available for the R-series tree shears

Several accessories are also available for the R-series tree shears. One of the most essential accessories for the R-series is the rotator, which gives the tree shear a much wider range of working angles and more versatile movement to maximise efficiency and accuracy. A bushing mounted on the rotator also allows the grab to rotate indefinitely around its own axis.

The optional collector is also a very useful and popular accessory for the tree shear. It allows you to quickly clear smaller stands of trees, in particular, by keeping trees that have already been felled in the collector while the grapple is used to cut new ones. The collector’s efficiency is based above all on the reduction of the back and forth movements involved in loading the wood.

A special saw is also available as a new option for the R series, which allows you to cut more or thicker trees neatly compared to a standard cutting blade. This is an accessory designed for hard-working operators, bringing extra efficiency to the clearing job. Currently, the saw is only available for the 300R.
