JAK-Metalli Oy is an export company in the metal industry and one of the market’s first developers and manufacturers of tree shears. Finns are known for their excellent forestry industry expertise – and we are no exception. Our tree shears have evolved into their current form as a result of determined design and development work, along with long-term collaboration with industry professionals.

Hardox® In My Body Partnership

JAK-Metalli Oy has been an SSAB Hardox® In My Body partner since the beginning of its operations, and all our tree shears feature the HARDOX® label, indicating the use of genuine Hardox® wear plate steel in the product. High-Quality Production Facilities

For us, it is important to be present at different stages of the production process. This allows us to ensure that our quality standards are met, and we know we are always delivering high-quality products through our distributors to end users around the world. For these reasons, we manufacture JAK Tree Shears entirely at our factory in Mänttä-Vilppula.

The core of our company’s operations is our production facilities, which guarantee top-notch conditions for manufacturing and quality control. We have production and storage facilities at two locations. In recent years, we have expanded our premises and implemented updates to streamline production processes and improve throughput times.

In production, we use:

  • 5-axis CNC lathe
  • Three CNC lathes, bar feeder
  • Three horizontal CNC machining centers
  • Two vertical CNC machining centers
  • Two CNC saws
  • 9-axis welding robot system

Production Chain and Product Design

Our tree shears have achieved their current form based on long-term research and experience. We know that the requirements for the products we manufacture are set very high among professionals. Therefore, our tree shears have always been developed in close collaboration with industry professionals, which has enabled continuous testing of product quality and performance in real conditions.

In design, analytical thinking is combined with production and economic requirements as well as knowledge from real operating conditions, forming the basis on which our products take their final shape. The SolidWorks software and efficient IT equipment ensure fast and smooth design work at all stages of the design process.

Prototype development, modeling of new parts and functions, documentation, and analysis of production and operational features form a continuous product development process. The design work considers manufacturing efficiency, raw material usage, and the desired quality characteristics of our products, especially from the end user’s perspective.

The applications and markets for our products vary greatly depending on the target country. We want to listen to our customers and be ready to develop our products. The starting point for our design is the dialogue with our customers. Our goal is to design products and solutions tailored to the needs of different target countries in collaboration with our customers.

Our design department works closely with product testing and production to ensure the functionality of our products. We analyze practical information and experiences from end users around the world. The data collected serves as a tool for our designers to improve existing products and develop entirely new solutions.
