JAK-400R Tree Shear for 25–35t Excavators

Heavy-duty tree shear for felling and clearing

The JAK-400R is a tree shear for 25–35 tonne excavators, designed for felling, clearing and handling trees. It offers a cutting capacity of up to 400 mm. Typical applications include roadside clearing, site clearance and harvesting trees for biomass.

The sturdy double-jaw design provides a secure grip during cutting and handling. With the cutting blade removed, the grapple can also be used to handle timber without cutting it.

The optional eBoost hydraulic system combines fast movement with high cutting force. When cutting smaller trees, the shear uses one cylinder. As more force is needed, the second cylinder engages automatically and without delay, with no noticeable interruption in the cutting movement. The operator does not need to switch operating modes.

Fast closing with eBoost helps keep small trunks and branches securely gripped, improving handling control and supporting safe operation. Thanks to its closed hydraulic circuit, the fast-movement function does not cause additional oil heating. Fast cycle times can reduce fuel consumption per job, lowering operating costs and the associated CO₂ emissions.

The optional 360° hydraulic rotation system makes it easier to position the grapple for cutting. The optional collector holds previously cut small trunks while the shear cuts the next tree, allowing several trunks to be accumulated before unloading the bundle.

The JAK-400R can be configured to operate through one double-acting hydraulic circuit. It is manufactured in Finland at JAK’s own factory using SSAB steels, including Hardox® wear-resistant steel.
